A Winter Morning of Wings: 36 Bird Species Spotted at Sagrada

One quiet January morning at Sagrada, the land revealed one of its most beautiful gifts.

As the winter light settled gently over the hills and the air carried that crisp, clean stillness unique to early mornings, we began to notice movement—fluttering, calling, and gliding from tree to tree. What unfolded over the next few hours was nothing short of remarkable: 36 distinct species of birds were observed across the property in a single winter morning.

Winter is often thought of as a quieter season, yet this moment reminded us how alive the land truly is. From small songbirds tucked into the branches to larger birds circling overhead, the diversity was striking. Each species seemed to claim its own rhythm and place, creating a layered chorus that felt both grounding and awe-inspiring.

Such diversity speaks to the health of the ecosystem here at Sagrada: clean air, thriving plant life, open space, and a sense of safety that allows wildlife to flourish.
