Figure Drawing and Yoga Workshop
--Uniting Body, Mind and Spirit --- a Deeply Visual Experience--
September 10-14, 2008
This workshop is designed to combine drawing the human form with the practice of yoga. The idea is to deepen the visual, creative experience of drawing from a model with the physical and spirit-filled experience of doing yoga. All the senses are engaged in this workshop; from which we can gain a better understanding of our bodies and express this awareness in visual form.
The integration of yoga and figure drawing inspires the creative process and builds an authentic connection between the drawer and the model. Instruction will include technical skill -building and personalized attention. The model is engaged in both the yoga practice and the drawing sessions to provide a unique physical and visual link between doing yoga and drawing from the model.
We meet daily, beginning with a nutritious light breakfast, moving into a yoga warm-up and expanding to a full 25 posture yoga series. Invigorated by the yoga session, we will take a "juice break" and start the figure drawing class; which includes both moving and still poses in timed sequences. All levels of yoga and drawing experience are welcome. Art supplies and yoga mats are provided.
All levels of yoga and art-making experience are welcome in this workshop.
Each participant will receive a packet of art supplies and the use of the classroom/pavilion to make art, meditate or practice yoga at leisure. A sauna is included in the workshop in addition to all meals and your choice of lodging.
Afternoons will be open to spa treatments, recreational activities, including hiking, horseback riding, a visit to the local hot springs or simply relaxing in the majestic surroundings of Sagrada Wellness Center.
It is the intention of this workshop to leave you feeling good, present, and enlivened in your personal awareness and creativity!
