Ojai, California

Ojai is 1.5 hours from Los Angeles (LA).

Ojai has long been known as a haven for artists and health enthusiasts. Ojai is a magical place with so much natural beauty that it gained fame decades ago when the area was photographed to represent Shangri-La in the 1939 movie, The Lost Horizon.

Our Ojai yoga and Pilates retreats are held at a beautiful retreat center on 40 acres along a ridge of semi-wilderness at the foot of the Los Padres Mountains in Southern California, between Los Angeles (LA) and Santa Barbara. Meditation gardens, native habitats, and Permaculture principles are demonstrated throughout the land, along with yurts and domes, and a close kinship with the natural world.

The sleeping facilities are eco-conscious, in the style of a cozy, private camp in a semi-wilderness setting with hot showers and restrooms. In addition to the canvas domes and yurts, the facilities include a meditation room, sweat lodge, tipi, and two kivas with fire pits. This offers you lots of sacred places to explore during your stay.

Our yoga and Pilates classes are held in the Council Room. The room is a perfect place for movement and meditation. The Council Room has hard wood floors and beautiful views to the natural setting.

Sweat Lodge
Sagrada Wellness is honored to have the opportunity to offer a sacred sweat lodge experience to our yoga and Pilates retreats in Ojai. This gives retreaters the opportunity to embark on their own personal journey of exploration and renewal.

The Sweat Lodge is a Traditional Native American group ceremony. Separated from the busyness of everyday life, this tranquil area is a perfect place for this purifying ceremony.  As sweating is considered purifying for the body and the mind, it is particularly valuable to mark periods of change or new beginnings.

The Water-Pourer will be the Ceremony leader for the group and the Fire Keeper will be outside the Lodge working the fire and keeping the rocks hot. The Water-Pourer and Fire Keeper work together to transport the rocks into the lodge which are then treated with water to generate the steam to heat the space. Retreaters emerge from the Sweat Lodge feeling physically and spiritually cleansed.
